| Tips
for Searching
Start your search with
the most obvious word that describes what you're looking for. Remember
less is more when searching, it's best to search for fewer words than
too many. For instance, if you're looking for information about
the DUP
Constitution, try typing constitution
rather than DUP
constitution.
If you're searching
for a phrase like "Days of '47"
use quotes around the phrase so that you don't get results that include
"summer days" or "page 47".
You can also use an
asterisk * in place of a letter or series of letters. For
example, wom*n,
will
find both women
and woman.
Type each word(s) or
phrase in the search box. Then click the search button
.
Experiment with
searches: Type the following words in the search box, Days of '47
then try it as a phrase with quotation marks, "Days of '47".
Searching for
Proper Names: If you're searching
for a proper name like Brigham Young
use quotation marks around the name otherwise you'll get results that
include all website content containing Brigham Young, as well as Brigham,
plus all web content containing Young. If you're looking for
results for only "Brigham Young" then use quotation
marks around the name. Be sure to also search for a proper name
in reverse speaking order and don't forget the quotation marks, for
example, "Young, Brigham". Just
for fun search for Brigham Young using, the three search strings: Brigham Young, "Brigham Young", and "Young, Brigham" to see what your
search results are.
