Each member has the privilege of meeting with other members in the area to study the histories of emigrant pioneers and colonizers of the west. A lesson is given and each member frequently has the opportunity to give a history of her own pioneer ancestors. In addition, this is a social meeting where friendships are continued and new friends are made. Usually, refreshments are served. This organization is called a camp. It meets monthly, September through May. As a member, you will receive a newsletter, Legacy, which is mailed quarterly from Salt Lake City. This document is a valuable source of information concerning the organization. Through its pages, you are kept in touch with coming events and programs.
Any woman shall be eligible for membership who is over the age of eighteen, of good character, and a lineal or legally adopted descendant of an ancestor who came to the Utah Territory before the completion of the railroad, May 10, 1869. The procedure for enrollment shall be as the By-laws provide.
You will be expected to do your part in completing the record of the Utah pioneers by making sure your ancestors are all represented in our history collection. You will be expected to make contributions to the Lesson Committee by submitting any appropriate history you may have. Lesson outlines, which name in advance the subjects to be published, are sent to each camp yearly. The lesson editor reserves the right to make selections for publication and to edit that which is published.
You may be elected to one of the camp offices, or you may be appointed to one. Please serve gladly. Help is given to all officers at an Annual Seminar. All members are invited to the Annual International Convention.
