  • Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel (1847-1868) - The most complete index of individuals and companies that crossed the plains to Utah between 1847 and 1868. Include transcribed excerpts from trail diaries, letters, and newspaper reports. 



  • Purchasing Power of Money in the United States from 1774 to 2008. In reading an ancestor's history you might discover that he made $100 for an entire year,1847. By going to "Purchasing Power of Money ... " you can determine that the $100 in 1848 would purchase $2698.03 worth of goods in 2008! Tip: Initial year = 1847, initial amount = $100.
    • $2698.03 in the year 2008 has the same "purchase power" as $100 in the year 1847.
    • $3.71 in the year 1847 has the same "purchase power" as $100 in the year 2008.
    • Jim Bridger told Brigham Young, “I would give $1,000 for a bushel of corn raised in the basin.” In 1847 that $1000 had the purchasing power of $26,980.33 in 2008! Use the site, "purchasing Power ...", you'll gain an even greater appreciation of your pioneer ancestors.



  • Utah Pioneer Project - The goal of the Utah Pioneer Project of the Utah Genealogical Association is to create a database of all Utah pioneers and to provide information on each pioneer, parents, siblings, spouse(s), children, and children's spouses. The first stage of this project will focus on pioneers who came to Utah by 1850. The second stage will focus on those who came between 1850 and 1860. The third stage will focus on those who came between 1860 and May 1869 when the railroad was completed.
